It’s been almost a month since my last report and I apologize for that but I have been fishing almost every day since my last report and for the past 14 days straight. Its been great with a huge variety of trips from hi speed trolling in Bimini for wahoo, daytime swordfishing in Miami and sailfish trips on the edge. We did two wahoo trips this past month and it has been slow the times I went. We caught a couple of wahoo a day on our last trip but we certainly go there to catch more than that. With more cold fronts moving there way down, will only get the wahoo bite going again real soon. What I will have to say about our last trip is how quickly the weather can change. It was a two-day trip and we had great weather on our way to Bimini. We actually made it in an hour and 10 minutes. The second day the wind switched to the north at 20 knots and our flat calm seas quickly grew to 8 footers. Luckily it was on our side and with the big SeaVee we were able to do 25 to 30 knots coming back. Not too shabby in 8 footers and I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I am with my new 37 SeaVee. It is an incredible boat and can handle some big seas with ease.
We also did a daytime swordfish trip and were lucky enough to catch a fish on our first drop. It wasn’t huge but was a solid 120 pounds. We had another bite but pulled the hooks. Some guys have a lot of luck when it comes to certain fish and that is the case with my good client Keith who has swordfished with me 3 or 4 times and has never been skunked. Keep bring the luck Keith!
