I haven?t been dolphin fishing offshore yet due to the windier weather, but with calm seas forecasted, that will be a good bet in the weeks to come.
We have also had a few tarpon trips and the fishing has been pretty good for tarpon. Our best night we caught 4 tarpon. The largest was about 130 pounds.
Last night we finally got to go swordfishing. It was our first trip in almost a month, but it was worth it. We had a total of 6 bites, hooked 4 swords and landed one. The 4 swords we hooked, especially 2 of them seemed pretty solid. They pulled quite a bit of drag and were on for a while. Unfortunately the hook pulled on 3 of them, but we did manage to catch a decent 100 pounder.
The forecast looks good for the next few weeks. I am scheduled to go swordfishing again tonight, then we go to Bimini for a few days, then come back and go swordfishing for 3 nights in a row. I have one or two days open next week then go back across to the Bahamas for 12 days.
As you can see the schedule is staying pretty busy so now is definitely the time to book your summer swordfish, summer dolphin and summer Bahama trips while there are still a few days left open.
Also this summer in July, I will be one of a few gust speakers in a summer camp dedicated to fishing. Along with Captains Mike Puller, Dennis Forgione, Stephen Smithies, Louie Dudas, Ray Rosher, Bouncer Smith and myself, we will be providing fishing instructions and techniques. Check out the website http://www.summerschooloffish.com/ for more details. I?m sure it will be a blast!
