Fishing Reports

Holidays Are Approaching

Report Date: December 9, 2018

December is here and we are enjoying a good start to our sailfish season. We haven’t had any record days yet, but the sailfish action has been very consistent with us catching at least one to four sailfish per trip. The conditions have been mixed, some days we will have north current and good water and some days we have had green water and no current, but regardless we have been able to find a few sails every day. We just got another cold front and actually have two more scheduled for this week, which will definitely get the sailfish migrating towards our area. An indication that the fish are starting to move through is the amount of multiples we get. Last weekend we had our first tripleheader (3 sailfish at one time) and this week we had two doubleheaders. Its exciting enough when you get one sailfish dancing in the air, but can you imagine three at one time – it is definitely a blast!

Besides sailfish, there have been quite a few decent mahis on the edge. These fish have been averaging 8 to 30 pounds and have been quite prevalent. They have been eating the kite baits so besides catching and releasing sailfish, we also get to catch some eating fish for our customers to take home, and mahi is definitely a quality eating fish. Besides the mahis, there have also been a few kingfish around and I did hear of some wahoos as well.

Now that we are well into December, the holidays are just around the corner. We are completely booked for the holiday week between Christmas and New Year but we do have some days open this week and next. Also with the holidays in mind,
I also offer gift certificates, which are excellent presents for that special fisherman/woman in your life. What a better gift than a fishing trip! We also offer Double D T-shirts for sale. So whether it's a gift certificate, a T-shirt or planning on your next fishing trip, give me a call and lets set it up.

Tight Lines,
Capt. Dean Panos
