Better Late than Never

Luckily I have been staying busy as usual, although I did get to go up to fish for giant Bluefin tunas in Prince Edward Island and that was a blast. A good customer of mine invited me up there and we fished three days and caught a few giant bluefins from 850 to 750 pounds. The fish were caught in stand up tackle and what a blast. With two travel days and 3 days of fishing I got a bit backed up and my first day back I had a day sword trip scheduled. It was one of the clients birthday that day and I guess the swords knew that and on our first drop we caught a 75-pound swordfish. After resetting we made another drop and we hooked a bigger fish and fought him and soon enough we had a 200 pounder as well. The current then changed a bit and the bite slowed down, but what a great way to celebrate your birthday. The current changed back the next day and the bite improved again.
Following that trip we had a couple of trips on the edge with one day catching a few kings and some bonitos and then a half day produced 2 sails, some kings, bonitos and a small mahi. The fishing on the edge will definitely continue to improve and with a minor front moving in today, it may be getting better sooner than later.
I also did a one day wahoo trip to Bimini with a very good friend and client Roger. I had heard of some, not a lot of wahoo being caught on the other side. The report was anywhere from a couple of fish to 5 or 6 wahoo per day. Roger had a limited window and although we usually stay for a few days, he could only get over for one day. With decent weather, we crossed over, cleared customs and were fishing by 9:30am. We didn't crush them, but we did get a few wahoo from 30 to 40 pounds and it was a blast hi-speeding for them. We had a great ride back and it was a lot of fun catching some wahoo and spending time with Roger again. I actually go back to Bimini next week for a couple of days of wahoo fishing and then go back again the following week.
Back on this side, we have quite a few daytime swordfish trips booked and that's great since the bite seems to be materializing. A bit late but better late than never. I also have a few full and some half days booked on the edge for sails and can’t wait for them to start pouring through our waters. Overall it is a very busy end to October and although November has some days booked, I still have opening in both November and December, so give me a shout and lets go catch some fish!
